Nigel Montandon was born in 1941.  He developed a love of painting in his early years with encouragement from his art teacher whilst living at Pershore.

Many years on, now living at Stoke Lacy with his wife Daphne  he devotes most of his time to painting interspersed with sessions in the pottery.Mostly working in oils he strives to capture the beauty of the Herefordshire landscape.

Nigel's pottery is mainly thrown on the wheel using white earthenware clays. A number of decorating techniques are employed but possibly the most popular is 'marbling'. To achieve this effect various coloured slips are applied to the unfired piece and swirled together creating subtle patterns. He also works in a locally dug clay which produces good quality terracota ware.
